Shake The Floor

Opening Night Party
On Day 1 at 8:00pm there will be a party welcoming the Shake The Floor participants to New York. The Opening Night Party is free of charge to participants, friends and family. The party will be a chance to meet other participants as well as the Shake The Floor faculty and staff. There will be live music and a cash bar. At 8:30 there will be a brief orientation. Dress is casual. The night will end at around 10pm.

Bingo Night!!
After a long day of classes and rehearsals, relax with Bingo!! Family of participants welcome to play FREE.

Parent Jazz Class (with a bar on the dance floor!)
Parents of all the workshop participants are invited to a basic jazz class. No jazz shoes needed. This is the easiest of easy classes. Do not be afraid parents. It will be a lot of fun. Kids: START HARASSING YOUR PARENTS NOW!!!

Shake Down is a solo jazz competition in 3 different age levels: 8-12, 13-15, 16 + up. The time limit is 3 minutes. The solo may be in any style of jazz, hip-hop, lyrical, modern or musical theater. The winner and runner-up are decided by consensus of the judges. The winner of each category will receive a full scholarship to a future Shake The Floor. The runner-up in each category will receive a half scholarship to a future ShakeThe Floor. The entry fee for Shake Down is $65. Participation is optional.
